A student writes: I decided to stop meditating as I could never really motivate myself to do that so often. I will just concentrate on Reiki and self healing as most of the people there also never meditate and are still excellent Reiki healers it seems...:-)
I have been doing Self Healing every day and already started feeling differences. My feet and hands are much warmer now and sometimes even my heart. I feel overall more protected now and happy. All my friends and boyfriend are amazed by my change of mood. :-) they all see me much more balanced now.
Response:
It sounds like your Reiki practice is going well. Warm hands and feet are good signs that the energy is flowing well. Of course, the goal of Reiki is not just warm hands and feet, so remember there are many lessons ahead of you on your Reiki path. Some people get warm hands and feel like they "know" Reiki very well. In fact, that is just the first indication that energy is flowing. The following stages of your Reiki growth are much more important.
This is why meditation is so important. Yes, I'm sure you met people at the Reiki share whose hands are warm, but does that mean they are truly accomplished healers? I know some teachers who do not include meditation in their training. That is their right, but they are missing out on the most important training tool of the Reiki
programme.

This is sort of like buying a fancy camera with all the buttons, shutter speed setting, aperture setting and zoom control, but only using the "automatic" functions of the camera. Indeed, people "seem" to get pretty good photos just by aiming a camera and pressing the button. But, would you call them true "photographers"? The same
is true with Reiki healers. Yes, their hands get warm and you feel comfort when they give you healing, but will they progress more deeply along their spiritual and emotional paths?
So, you can see why I emphasize meditation very very much in your training. It's a little bit disappointing that you seem to have given up the MOST important part of the training that we practiced. It's up to you, for sure, which things you practice and which things you don't. Focusing on Reiki and self healing are good steps, but that
means your Reiki level 1 training truly is not complete. You will need to take enough time with all of the practices until you can truly say that you have completed the Reiki course. Hope this helps you on your path.
